ELECTRIC TESTS AND MEASUREMENTS, DIAGNOSE AND INSPECTIONS

ICM offers an extended range of tests and inspections that can provide a clear picture of the condition of tested equipment in general and of the insulation systems in particular. These details can lead to optimal use while extending the life of electric machines.

Together with our customers we can plan and carry out tests and inspections (in order to achieve essential objectives for the proper carrying out of activities) in order to obtain the following benefits:

1.Optimizing operation and improving reliability

2.Increase profitability by minimizing unplanned shutdowns

3.Improving safety

4.Precise information on maintenance plans

5.Assessment of the condition of electrical machines and their components, identification of critical points.

6.Prevention of defects and even work accidents that can cause serious injuries, significant damage, environmental damage.

Meagohmeter allows, besides usual insulation measurements, hi pot tests with voltages up to 10kV c.c. The tests can be performed by direct voltage applying or by STEP or RAMP increasing.

We can perform measurements at applied currents up to 10A, with a measurement resolution of 0.1 µΩ. This allows measurements of continuity and ohmic resistance of electric machines windings (stator, rotor, excitation, etc.). The precision of performed measurements may offer very important information regarding windings and connections state.

Our modern and powerful equipment allows visual inspections of even mounted equipment. This, equipped with a high performance camera which eliminates surfaces reflections, obtains clear images which allows the identification without difficulty of any irregularities, issues or problems. Inspections can be performed on stator winding or magnetic core, rotor windings, terminals, etc.

This test is performed with a dedicated equipment composed from a central unit and a impulse generator & response reader. Through dedicated software this records, for each wedge, the relative tightness index and generates automatically a wedge tightness map. If by the classic method of verification by hammering there could have been doubts about the interpretation of the results, now the testing is performed in a much more precise way.

With our El-Cid equipment we check stator magnetic cores of turbo and hydro-generators, synchronous and asynchronous motors. Because the magnetic core has to be excites at most 4% of nominal value, the power required to perform the test is much reduced compared to those of the verification by the Ring Test method. Dedicated software offers interpretations with accurate identification of fault locations and fault amplitude.

With our integrated PowerMaxx and DeltaMaxx equipment we cand perform hi-pot tests, digital loss factor and partial discharge measurements on windings up to 600MW, at applied voltages up to 15kVa.c. Obtained results offer a clear image of tested insulation system state and also an estimate of remaining service life.

With reflectometer equipment we can perform checks of turbogenerator rotor windings, with 2 or 4 poles. The measurements cand be performed static and, if the rotor allows through slip rings, dynamic. Main effects of short-circuits on rotor windings are mechanical vibrations, local overheating which lead to thermal destruction of slot insulation. Due to their destructive nature, short circuits between turns can lead to damage to bearings, winding grounding, defects that can take out of operation, for long period of time, the entire unit.

Thermal imaging identifies hot spots or areas, from distance, of a functioning machine. These spots can be bearings, steam leaking areas, etc. It cand offer very accurate information when performing Ring Test on magnetic cores.

Laser alignment can be performed on rigid and flexible couplings.  Unlike the classic method with, laser alignment is not affected if the shafts presents run-outs or ovalization.

Our equipment allows RTDs check and control room signal calibration.

Our electric motor maintenance workshop is equipped with dynamic balancing stand. On it we balance electric several types of rotor like motors and pumps, compressors, etc. The equipment allows the balancing of rotors with nominal speeds much higher than 3000rpm G2.5.

We can perform measurements even in hard to reach places. Vibrations can be measured either by direct contact with the measuring device or by a high-precision external accelerometer with magnetic grip.
